Well #tweetsweet has made it through it’s first week!
First off I want to thank everyone for your kind words and support for this campaign. If you personally wrote me an encouraging message or tweet, it really made my day! I also want to thank anyone who sent out a #tweetsweet. This campaign will only work if people actually say positive things to others online… so thank you for being apart of the solution to this online problem.
It’s been quite an intense week with numerous media appearances and some school visits. It was such a privilege to be able to share the #tweetsweet campaign and shed some light on this issue of cyber-bullying on CP24, TSN radio, Off the Record with Michael Landsberg, with the lovely ladies of The Social, CTV news Toronto and many others this past week. This really has been a key factor in getting the message out about this campaign.
It was a lot of fun, but at the same time kind of nerve wracking, as most of them were live. I didn’t want to say something embarrassing or stumble on my words or have something in my teeth… You get my point haha But most importantly I wanted to put the focus on cyber-bullying as it affects a lot of people (teens especially) and the problem is getting out of control. Through this campaign if I can help at least one person, it will be a success!
This week I got to visit three schools in Belleville, ON. The students at Parkdale Public School, Prince Charles Public School and Harmony Public School gave me such a warm welcome. Thank you for hosting me and for being such wonderful audiences. It was so great to see that some classes already had a #tweetsweet wall and were writing positive things to each other.
We also got to announce the winner of the first pair of #tweetsweet tickets! The winner is going to the game tonight and I really hope that she has a great time. She let #tweetsweet know that she has never been to a game at the ACC and is a huge Toronto Maple Leafs fan. Hope you have a blast at the game tonight Tracy and the Leafs can get you a win!
This upcoming week I get to go visit Springfield Public School in Mississauga. Looking forward to seeing you guys soon!
